Yellow Ducks: Infant–2 yrs

Our youngest group at Learning to Learn is our infant room, the Yellow Ducks.

Fondly named the “Yellow Ducklings” this group offers services for children from 6 weeks to approximately 1year old (depending on readiness for the toddler program- see Orange Owl room).  After receiving much information from the parents about the child’s personal daily routine, the teachers give individual care to each child.  At this age everything is considered curriculum.  The teachers care for each child’s daily needs with thought and understanding that everything they do is a learning experience.  Infants are held and often rocked when taking a bottle, while older infants sit in sassy seats around a small table to encourage interaction and “dinner conversation”.    When all of the important basic needs are cared for, the teachers make themselves available for “floor time” with the children.  Physical development is encouraged through exploring and self motivated large and small motor development.  We have a carpeted area with soft climbing/crawling mats and plenty of hands on toys for the young ones to manipulate.  When the weather cooperates the children will venture outside to the play yard and on special days we will have the opportunity to offer an art project to the older children. Other floor time activities include reading stories or singing songs one on one or in a small group.    Although the classroom is licensed for up to 12 students each day, we usually keep the size down to 8 per day with a 4 children to 1 teacher  ratio.  Our goal is to offer a comfortable out of home experience.
