Orange Owls:Infant–2 yrs

Starting school in the toddler program is an exciting and challenging transition for your child. Our Orange Owls are a unique group of “toddling” older infants; these little ones are walking, take one nap a day, and are weaned from taking a bottle during the day.  This step-up from the infant room offers the children the same low 4 child to 1 teacher ratio with an expanded curriculum.    At this age routine is important and gives your toddler a sense of security knowing what comes next. We have circle time when we sing songs as a group; activities, art projects, snacks, lunch and nap all at a scheduled time. In the beginning this can be challenging for the children, but soon they adjust to the schedule and thrive in a routine.  We encourage drop off before 9:00 so that we can help with good byes and talk with you. We tend to get busy when activities begin.     Toddlers are very sensory oriented, so we do projects that are very hands-on. Art time is a chance for children to learn about different art materials and experience them in a sensory expanding way.  We spend as much time outside as weather will allow, so shoes and a jacket are a must. Naptime starts at 12:00 and they can sleep until 2:30 , this is the only time pacifiers can be used. At this age we are beginning to encourage more self help skills, therefore lunch items provided by parents include food that is prepared so that children can feed themselves.  The children are encouraged to sit on the potty, help put on their shoes, find their jackets and other confidence building activities.
